Base imagery
- Terrain: a static topographic base map.
- IR / Visible / WV: animated Himawari satellite imagery. Visible is only available during local daylight hours and is blended with infrared overnight.
Overlay layers
- Rain: the national radar rainfall mosaic.
- Radars: BoM radar site markers.
- Labels, Borders, Roads, Rivers, Contours: optional reference layers.
- Terrain: hillshade and elevation tint to show topography.
- Warnings: BoM active weather warnings (severe weather, wind, flood, fire).
- Temp: the latest temperature reading.
- Rain: rainfall accumulated over the timeframe you have selected.
- Rain 9am: rainfall since 9am local time.
- Wind: latest wind direction and strength as standard wind barbs.
- River: latest river height. Some readings are delayed, so more appear over longer timeframes.
- Click or tap any observation marker to open a detailed graph for that station.
Choose how far back the animation runs, from the last hour up to a week.
- Longer timeframes may automatically use a coarser interval due to memory constraints.
Sets how often a frame is shown in the animation.
- Radar is available at 5-minute intervals; live satellite imagery at 10 minutes.
- The interval is increased automatically for longer timeframes.

There are four sets of controls at the bottom :
- The first row controls the backround imagery on the map, a static Terrain view, or live, animated satellite views
- The second row allows you to overlay obserations from this time period :
- Temp - The latest temperature in degrees Celcius
- Rain - The amount of rainfall from the period you have selected (between 1 hr and 1 week)
- Rain 9am - The rain since 9am local time
- Wind - The latest wind direction and strength as indicated by standard wind barbs
- River - The latest river height available. Some river measurements are delayed, so more will be visible at longer time periods
- On the third row you can select the time period you wish to animate through. Changing this to longer time periods can increase the animation interval due to memory constraints
- Lastly there is the interval the animation runs at. The radar imagery is available at 5 minute intervals while the live satellite imagery is 10 minutes at most
