Cancellation of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

For people in Mid North Coast, Hunter, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.

Issued at 6:55 pm Thursday, 4 June 2026.

The risk of severe thunderstorms has eased in the Hunter and North West Slopes and Plains this evening.

Weather Situation: A trough moving through the Hunter and North West Slopes and Plains is generating isolated thunderstorms this evening.

This warning is now cancelled.

A separate Severe Weather Warning for damaging wind gusts is also current over elevated parts of the Great Dividing Range this evening. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts

103 km/h gust was recorded at Murrurundi Gap at 5:44 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
