Severe Weather Warning

for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in parts of Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Flinders, Mid North, Murraylands and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 4:05 am Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Damaging winds affecting parts of the West Coast and ranges during Tuesday.

Weather Situation: Damaging westerly winds are forecast for parts of the West Coast, Mt Lofty and Flinders ranges during Tuesday, as a deep low pressure continues to track east towards the Bass Strait with a vigorous westerly airstream persisting for parts of South Australia.

For parts of the WEST COAST: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible along the coastal fringe, easing during the morning.

For FLINDERS RANGES AND MOUNT LOFTY RANGES: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are likely, easing by Tuesday evening.

Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Strathalbyn, Maitland, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna and Port Augusta.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Lower Eyre Peninsula district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Sustained 68 km/h winds were recorded at Port Pirie Airport at 12:30 pm.

90 km/h wind gust was recorded at Port Pirie Airport at 11:47 am.

Sustained 68 km/h winds were recorded at Warburto Point (near Moonta) around 8:15 am.

94 km/h wind gust was recorded at Cleve at 7:07 am.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am ACST Tuesday.
