RAINFALL AND FLOOD RISK EASING ACROSS NORTHERN TASMANIA
RIVER LEVELS LIKELY TO REMAIN ELEVATED INTO SATURDAY AS FLOODWATERS MOVE DOWNSTREAM

Rainfall is easing across Tasmania as a weakening cold front clears the state during Friday.

Catchments across Tasmania remain saturated following recent rainfall and may respond quickly to any further localised heavy rainfall.

Creek and river levels remain elevated as floodwaters move downstream, with flooding observed in parts of the Flood Watch area over recent days.

Safety advice

* Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
* Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
* Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
