Winds are forecast to ease below warning thresholds late tonight.
Locations which may be affected include Currie, Whitemark and Bridport.
113 km/h wind gust was observed at Low Rocky Point at 6:09 am.
Sustained 85 km/h winds were observed at Low Rocky Point at 6:00 am.
139 km/h wind gust was observed at Scotts Peak Dam at 5:51 am.
