Conditions ease across the southwest, northeast and Furneaux Islands around lunch time, and the remainder of the warning area by late afternoon.
Locations which may be affected include Strahan, Oatlands, Whitemark, Bridport and Strathgordon.
Strahan Airport recorded a wind gust of 113 km/h at 02:08am this morning.
Scotts Peak Dam recorded a wind gust of 98 km/h at 01:47am this morning.
Safety advice

* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
