Warning details
For the northeast and Furneaux Islands: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100km/h are forecast to develop during this morning, more likely with showers and thunderstorms as a cold front moves through. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with gusts reaching 100 km/h are also possible through the afternoon about exposed coasts of the state.
DAMAGING WINDS are expected to contract to the south and southwest of the state by late this evening and eventually ease during Friday morning.
Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Strahan, New Norfolk, Currie, Scottsdale and Whitemark.
