Cancellation of Severe Thunderstorm Warning
For people in Central West, Lower West and Central Wheat Belt districts.
Issued at 5:57 pm Saturday, 22 August 2026.
Showers and thunderstorms likely to persist into the evening but the risk of heavy rainfall has eased.
This warning is now cancelled.
27.4 mm of rainfall was recorded at Canterbury (near New Norcia) in the 30 minutes to 4:45 pm.
19.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Barberton East in the 30 minutes to 3:15 pm.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
