Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL
For people in parts of North West Pastoral district.
Issued at 5:17 pm Thursday, 1 October 2026.
Severe thunderstorms developing through northwestern parts of the state this evening.
Weather Situation: A trough is combining with a moist and unstable environment through much of the state to bring thunderstorms this evening. These are tending severe in the northwestern corner of the state.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Ernabella and Amata.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:20 pm.
