Cancellation of Severe Weather Warning
For people in East Gippsland, South West, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.
Issued at 4:53 am Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
Damaging winds easing across coastal southwest Victoria and alpine regions.
Weather Situation: A cold front and weakening low is moving east of Victoria this morning, bringing damaging wind gusts away from the state.
This warning is now cancelled.
106 km/h wind gust recorded at Mount Hotham 8:36 PM AEST.
98 km/h wind gust recorded at Cape Nelson Lighthouse 8:46 PM AEST.
91 km/h wind gust recorded at Cape Otway Lighthouse at 2:52 AM AEST.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
No further warnings will be issued for this event.
