Cancellation of Severe Weather Warning
For people in East Gippsland and North East Forecast Districts.
Issued at 6:40 pm Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
Damaging winds have eased across alpine peaks.
Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system and associated cold front continues to approach Victoria, with northwesterly winds ahead of the cold front as it crosses the state.
This warning is now cancelled.
A separate warning for ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES is also current for parts of the coast. For more details, refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts
94 km/h wind gust recorded at Mt Hotham at 4:00 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
No further warnings will be issued for this event.
