Severe Weather Warning

for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in parts of West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North and North East Pastoral districts.

Issued at 10:55 am Saturday, 8 August 2026.

Damaging winds developing about the western Eyre Peninsula and Flinders Ranges on Sunday.

Weather Situation: A cold front extending from a low-pressure system in the Bight will move across the state on Sunday, bringing a gusty west to southwesterly change. A secondary trough will approach western Eyre Peninsula during Sunday afternoon, strengthening winds for a period.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 90 km/h are possible about the western and southern Eyre Peninsula from late Sunday morning, easing below warning thresholds in the late evening.

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are likely to develop about the Flinders Ranges during Sunday afternoon, easing below warning thresholds during Monday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Hawker, Elliston, Jamestown, Burra, Arkaroola, Peterborough and Streaky Bay.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm ACST Saturday.
