Major Flood Warning for the King River and Minor Flood Warning for the Ovens River

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DOCKER RD BRIDGE LATE THURSDAY EVENING

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING DOWNSTREAM OF LAKE BUFFALO, LAKE WILLIAM HOVELL AND ROCKY POINT

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BRIGHT, EUROBIN, WANGARATTA AND GRETA SOUTH OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY

Moderate rainfall across the Ovens and King River catchments since Monday has caused significant river level rises, with further rainfall forecast through to Friday.

Moderate flooding is occurring along the King River at Docker Road Bridge, with major flooding possible late Thursday evening. Minor flooding is occurring along the Buffalo River downstream of Lake Buffalo and along the King River downstream of Lake William Hovell. Moderate flooding is occurring at Cheshunt Thursday evening.

Along the Ovens River, minor flooding is occurring at Rocky Point. Minor flooding may develop at Harris Lane late Thursday evening ,and at Bright, Eurobin and Wangaratta overnight Thursday into Friday.

Minor flooding is possible along the Fifteen Mile Creek at Greta South overnight Thursday into Friday.

A Flood Watch is current for parts of Gippsland, North East and Central Victoria.

  • Minor flooding is occurring at Rocky Point and possible at Eurobin. — Ovens River Bright to Rocky Point, Ovens River at Eurobin, Ovens River at Rocky Point
  • Minor flooding is occurring downstream of Lake William Hovell and at Cheshunt, with moderate flooding possible at Cheshunt. Moderate flooding is occurring at Docker Rd Bridge, with major flooding possible. — King River, King River at Lake William Hovell (Downstream), King River at Docker Rd Bridge
  • Minor flooding is possible at Greta South. — Fifteen Mile Creek, Fifteen Mile Creek at Greta South
  • Minor flooding is possible at Wangaratta. — Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point, Ovens River at Wangaratta

Safety advice

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.

Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.

Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
